Agroecology is a systemic approach that takes into account and involves all stakeholders in the food system. For the first time, the project looks beyond the edge of the field and includes the plate, i.e. in addition to farmers, consumers are also integrated into the objectives. There is a creative and problem-solving orientated cooperation between farmers, consumers, research and advisory services (according to the agro-ecological principle of "co-creation of knowledge"). Despite a high level of knowledge, the current food system in Switzerland is not sustainable - neither ecologically, socially nor economically - and the main driver of the lack of sustainability is unsustainable consumption.
Together with the participants, we will look for ways to make the food system more sustainable from a consumer perspective. A digital community and local networks will be established to help trigger a social transformation. In participatory processes, we will develop and implement agroecological tools for consumers, that together form a toolbox. These tools can range from collaboration on a farm, cooking workshops torecipe exchanges, to name just a few. The whole process will be reviewed in order to develop a guide on how agroecology can be used to develop effective tools that promote the development of agroecological networks and sustainable nutrition.
