Project description
The "Agroecology Switzerland" project is a collaborative effort between farmers and consumers with the aim of making Switzerland's agriculture and food system more sustainable. The project is operating in four cantons (Solothurn, Glarus, Vaud and Ticino), where approximately 40 pilot farms, known as "farm laboratories", are implementing agroecological practices. These measures are intended to protect natural resources such as soil, water, air and biodiversity, while at the same time ensuring the profitability of the farms and animal welfare.
A unique aspect of the project is the close collaboration between farms, advisors, researchers and consumers, through which innovative solutions are developed and tested through co-creation and the exchange of knowledge.Consumers also play an important role by adopting more sustainable eating habits and reducing food waste. The project is meticulously monitored to assess the impact of the measures implemented and determine which approaches have the greatest positive effects.
The aim is to find practical solutions for the sustainable transformation of Swiss agriculture and to pave the way for a sustainable agricultural policy.
